Mantra Monday – Better Late Than Never

I know. It’s 4 o’clock. These posts usually come out in the morning but I neglected to write it last night, then neglected to remember it this morning. I am derelict in my duties to you, faithful readers.

Let’s get the excuses out of the way first…

So, pitter-patter, let’s get at ‘er. I feel worn out. I had a business meeting earlier today that I walked to and from (about 2 miles total). I’ve been working nearly non-stop for the past two months between four different jobs, and I have a shoulder injury. All I really want to do is stay here at home, curl up in bed, and read.

But as I said, I have a duty – a duty to myself and a duty to my readers. So here’s what’s going to happen today boys and girls:

The plan…

  • First, I’m going to finish writing this post, short though it may be, and hopefully what happens next will inspire those of you who read it to get off your ass and do something active today.
  • Second, I’m going to fill up my water bottle, get my gym clothes on, and walk another mile and a half down to the gym. Since I have a shoulder injury I will not be lifting today, but I will be doing 30 min of intense cardio. Then I’m going to shower and I’m going to walk back home.
  • Third, I’m going to write tomorrow’s Tuesday Tune-Up and work some more on the next Dingo Roy story.
  • Fourth, I’m going to curl up in bed and read.

What’s your excuse? Whatever it is, is it worth missing out on how good you’re going to feel knowing that you’ve kept your commitment to yourself and your fitness? I know that none of mine are. See you at the gym.

Update: It’s nearly 1 am, and I did all of those things, except the Dingo Roy story – I wrote my 1000 word story for Writers’ Wednesday instead. Now I’m going to curl up in bed and fall asleep reading. Maybe tomorrow I can do that a little earlier.
